A bonus for M.Tech aspirants who wish to pursue the course through remote learning. For the first time ever, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has come up with an initiative to offer M.Tech degree through remote learning. It is not mandatory for the students to present on the campus physically and they can pursue the course from their workplace.
IIT Madras has taken its teaching process out of the confinement of the campus. The institute shortlisted 31 students for this one-of-a-kind remote learning M.Tech programme wherein the candidates will be required to complete their course from their workplace.
Initially, the institute has launched the programme specifically for the automobile sector. The objective of the institute is to simultaneously launch the courses in aerospace, communication and information security fields as well. The initiative launched by IIT Madras will benefit employees in the corporate sector. Corporates sponsor employees and fresh graduates to take up remote learning courses. These courses are highly user-oriented impact programmes.
Director of IIT Madras, Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthy revealed that M.Tech course in Automotive Technology would help employees of the industry to upgrade their skills and qualifications. The curriculum of the course will meet the demands of industry in the field of the automotive sector.
Through this initiative, a coordinator and a classroom will be set up at the industry location. The faculty from IIT Madras will take classes for the participants in the evenings. The initiative is so flexible that the employees need not travel to specific locations to attend the classes. Until the completion of the course, it is not mandatory for the participants to be present on the IIT Madras campus. The institute will conduct online classes for the participants as well.
